Nwoya, UGANDA – On 18th May 2022, The Nile Explorer Bus ๐ – a project funded by U.S Mission Uganda – worked together with USAID/Uganda Biodiversity for Resilience, RTI International, and Open Space Center for the screening of episodes of the popular N*Gen TV Series ๐บ on “Human-Wildlife Conflict” in Nwoya District in Northern Uganda.
This was all in preparation for World Biodiversity Day 2022, which was celebrated under the theme “Building a shared future for all life“. Biodiversity ๐ is all the different kinds of life you’ll find in one areaโthe variety of animals ๐ฆ, plants๐ฟ, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria that make up our natural world. This is essential for the processes that support all life on Earth ๐, including humans๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ.
All the N*Gen episodes ๐บ screened were translated into the local language for successful interpretation of the messages. Both pupils of Got-Apwoyo Primary School where the event was held, and members of the community watched and participated in activities to deepen knowledge of animal habitats and promote life skills of observation and empathy.
By advocating for, and reversing biodiversity loss, we can improve human health ๐ฉบ, realize sustainable development ๐, and address the climate emergency๐. Solutions exist to protect our planet’s genetic diversity on land and below water. Everyone has a part to play.
